Corben “Butch” Lathaniel Weldon, Jr., 70, passed away on Tuesday January 29, 2019. He was born in Maylene, Alabama to Corben and Vera (Goggins) Weldon, Sr. He has lived in Jacksonville for the past 65 years. He was a veteran and served in the US Army. He was a Heavy Equipment Operator and a member of the Operating Engineers local # 673 of Jacksonville. He loved fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and family. He is preceded in death by his father, Corben L. Weldon, Sr., sister, Mickey Kellum, and brother, Mike Weldon. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Donna Marie Weldon; son, John Weldon (Melissa); daughter Allison Hayes (Chris); mother, Vera Weldon; brothers, Kenny Weldon (Theresa), and Scott Weldon; sister, Becky Copher (Ira), mother in law, Alice Rand; grandchildren, Amber Richter, Brandy Richter, Alyssa Hayes, and Corben "Corey" Hayes, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services with military honors will be held on Saturday February 2, 2019 at 7pm in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, with Rev. Steve McCoy officiating. The family will receive friends starting at 6pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bishop Snyder High School of Jacksonville, or The American Lung Association.
