Diane Gifford

Diane Gifford passed away on October 19, 2019 at UF Health North in Jacksonville, FL. Diane was born on December 26, 1942 to Robert and Mildred Wentzell of Boylston, Massachusetts and was a beloved sister to Roger (Janet) Wentzell of Boylston, MA, Sally Feely of Warren, RI, and Charles (Jean) Wentzell of The Villages, FL. After graduating from South High School in Worcester, MA, Diane married Charles Gifford, the love of her life on September 22, 1962 with whom she happily enjoyed over 57 years of marriage. Diane and Charles resided in San Diego and Los Angeles, CA before settling down in Seattle, WA where they raised their two children, son, Shawn (Emily) Gifford, and daughter, Paige Gifford. Diane was always an avid golfer, even as a wife and busy mother of two. After playing too many rounds in the cold and rain of the Pacific Northwest, Diane eventually convinced Charles to move to sunny Jacksonville, FL where she was an active member of the Hidden Hills Ladies Golf Association since 2003 and accomplished ten-time Ladies’ Club Champion (2005 through 2008, 2010, 2013, 2015-2018). Diane’s “happy place” was on the fairways but she equally enjoyed spending time with her two granddaughters, whom she adored, Mackenzie and Charley Grace, and will forever be known as their “Me-Ma.” The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Hidden Hills Ladies Golf Association for all of their support during this difficult time as well as to the staff at UF Health North-we cannot thank them enough for their compassionate care. A private Celebration of Life will be held on November 1 for family and friends.
