Donald Richard King, age 70, died November 15, 2019, passed away due to complications associated with diabetes at Memorial Hospital, Jacksonville, Florida while surrounded by family.
Donald was born December 23, 1948, in Baltimore Maryland to the late Donald Cyrus King and Joan Curran King-Leggett. After the family moved to Florida, Donald attended Holy Rosary Catholic School and continue his education at Bishop Kenny / Ribault Senior High graduated earning an Automotive Mechanical Certification.
Donald served his country while in the Army during the Vietnam era. After his service in the Army, Donald returned home to work with his late stepfather, Jack Leggett. Later he worked for Sears as a member of the maintenance department and retiring after more than 25 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, both parents, his stepfather Jack Leggett and a sister ( Carolyn ). He is survived by eight siblings, five sisters - Veronica (Harvey) Hudgins, Deborah (James) Robinette, Grace Torsanko, Barbara (Tony) Hughes, Jennifer (Claude) Thomas.Three brothers - Giles King, Roy (Cathy) Leggett, Andy (Shannon) Leggett. A long time friend of the family, Grace Whitley and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial Mass will be held for Donald at 12:30 pm on Friday, December 20, 2019, at Church of the Crucifixion, located at 3183 Edgewood Ave. W., Jacksonville, Florida 32209.
Interment Services will follow at the Jacksonville National Cemetery at 2:30 pm. All who wish to attend are welcome.
