Doris Griffin (Foss) Bowman

Doris Griffin Bowman 87, was called to the Lord on Friday, on October 18th 2019 with her family at her side. Born January 10th, 1932, to Frederick Alton and Susan Nettie [Jones] Foss, in Suwannee County, Florida.

She is described as the matriarch of her family and a woman who truly blessed everyone who she had contact with. One of the most caring, loving and strong women anyone could meet. She served the Lord as fiercely as she showed her family what is was to be loved. She taught us grace and kindness by her actions and the way she approached life.

 We will all cry today for the sheer fact we will miss her, while knowing all the while, she is where she was always meant to be, in Heaven, she was described as an angel who walked on Earth by all that were blessed to know her.

She is preceded in death by her husband(s) Kenneth Griffin of 45 years and Frank Bowman of 10 years as well as her brothers ,Emmett, Buck, Alfred and JP; sisters, Gladys and Hazel; daughter, Janella Brookins and great grandchildren Jarrett and Hillary Jones.

She is survived by her sister, Joan Smith and brother, Leroy Foss (Shirley); son, Frederick Griffin (Darleen); daughter, Virginia Gicalone (Kevin); grandchildren, Donna Cunningham (Scott), Deborah Mata (Fred), Linda Wheeler (Thomas), Geni Maloy (Larry), Frederick Griffin Jr.(Nikki) and Stacey Gray (Kelley); great grandchildren, Eric (Lori), Jessica (Steven), Adam (Tiffany), Michael, Sara (Josh), Brett, Veronica, Rebekah, Olivia, Ryan, Samuel, Richard, Sophia, Zachary, Jacob, Brooke, Brett, Camren, Maya, Elyese, Kyle, Drake, Kaisey and many great, great grandchildren.

The viewing will be held at Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road Jacksonville, FL.  32218, on October 24th from 5 pm -7 pm. Funeral services will be held at Cedar Bay Funeral Home on October 25th at 11 am followed by a Graveside service at Riverside Memorial Park 7242 Normandy Boulevard
