Elaine Irene Ditlovson

Elaine (Nielsen) Ditlovson (79) Our beloved and devoted mother and grandmother passed away on June 23, 2018, in Jacksonville Florida.  Elaine was born on January 11, 1939 to Clarence and Ethel Nielsen in Gervais, Minnesota. She married E.J. Ditlovson in Grand Forks, North Dakota and moved to Japan as a US Navy spouse, then to Maryland, and settled in Jacksonville, Florida.  

Elaine is survived by her daughters Brenda Higginbotham (Lauren), Caro Ainsworth (Ray), and Christina Brown (David), grandchildren Ashley Brown (Josh), Brandi Higginbotham, Matthew Brown, and Brandon Higginbotham, brothers and sisters Andrew Nielsen, Richard Nielsen (Bebe), Lester Nielsen (June), Lavonne Hockin (George), and Elsie Hagen (Denny), and many loved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Elaine is predeceased by her husband E.J. “Dit” Ditlovson, three sons Ernest, James, and Antony, granddaughter Kristen Brown, parents Clarence and Ethel Nielsen, and brothers and sisters-in-law, Leroy Nielsen, Clarence “Junior” Nielsen, Jr. and Janet Nielsen, Thea Nielsen, and Helen and Raymond Peck.

Elaine loved her family, making one final trip to the annual Nielsen Family Reunion in Crookston, Minnesota two weeks prior to her death.  Elaine dearly loved animals, and many dogs, cats, birds, and more enjoyed her kindness and treats over the years.

A Memorial Service will be held at Spirit of Life Lutheran Church, 2636 New Berlin Rd, Jacksonville Florida on Saturday, June 30, 2018.  Visitation will begin at 10am, with the service beginning at 11am. Phone 904.757.9114. The Reverend Richard W. Dow will be officiating.
