Gerald Peterson

Gerald “Papa” “Pete” Peterson, 88, passed away on December 20, 2018 surrounded by loved ones.  Gerald was born on August 8, 1930 to Hilda Moore and Walker Mae Peterson. Gerald proudly served in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy. He met the love of his life, Mary Lou, when he was 10 years old and she was 7. He was her paperboy and every day she would run to sit on her front steps as he rode by. They married in 1952 and were blessed with 5 children before her passing in 2008. Gerald retired from Seaboard Coast Line Railroad and loved spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, piddling in his shop and collecting all things imaginable. Gerald was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary Lou, and son, David. He is survived by sons, Jerry (Jan), Tommy (Joyce), daughters Patti and Janet (Gary), 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.  Funeral services will be Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Cedar Bay Funeral Home Chapel with visitation from 11:00am-1:00pm prior to the service at 1:00pm.  Grandson, Justin Peterson will be officiating.  Honorary Pallbearers are Jerry Peterson and Tommy Peterson.  Pallbearers are Brandon Peterson, Jason Peterson, Justin Peterson, Gary Steen, Jaimen Hagans and Sean Helbert.
