James Hubert Hembree, 66, passed away on Monday February 18, 2019. He was born in Marshall, Michigan in 1952 to the late James and Mary (McPherson) Hembree. Jimmy grew up on Jacksonville’s Northside, graduated from Andrew Jackson Senior High School, retired from the Duval County School Board, and has resided on Black Hammock Island for 35 years. He loved to fish, watch football, and spend time with his family and many friends. He was a loving father, Papa and friend and will be dearly missed by all. He is preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Chewning. Survivors include his daughters, Tonya Lewis (Eric) and Dawn Smith, step daughter, April Michelle Brown (Charley); his partner and best friend, Hilda Gordon; grandson, Austin Lewis and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday February 22, 2019 at 11am in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, with Steve Marinko officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6pm until 8pm at the funeral home. Interment by cremation.
