Norma La Rue (Sims) Crosby

Norma La Rue Sims went to meet her Lord on August 8, 2018. She is rejoicing with her father, Thomas “Red” Sims, her mother Beatrice Davis Sims, her niece Amy Sims, her great-grandson Noah Bell, sister-in-law Connie Sims.

Norma is leaving behind, for a season, her devoted husband, Ted Crosby,  children, Karen Marino, Kathy McDuffie (Randy) and Ted Crosby Jr. (Missie), grandchildren Brittany Bell (Michael), Joshua Card (Mckenzie), Devon McDuffie, Caden McDuffie, Christian Crosby (Caitlin), Collin Crosby, Celise Crosby. great-grandchildren Emery Gonzales, Elliot Card, Crosby Bell and Emmy Bell. She loved her brother Lewis Sims and sister Kelli Melvin (Edwin) dearly and both have been loving and supportive during this almost four-year struggle with Vascular Dementia.  

During the latter months of her life, she was lovingly cared for by The Jane Adams House assisted living facility and The Community Hospice, both located in Fernandina Beach, Florida.

Her husband told friends many times that he would spend 30 minutes grocery shopping and another 30 minutes waiting for Norma to finish witnessing to every person she encountered.

Norma loved her church, North Jacksonville Baptist. She taught a class of young girls for many years and later a lady’s class. She was a wonderful and talented teacher and loved to share Jesus with them.

Her friends are invited to visit with the family at 10 a.m. and the memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14th, both in the sanctuary of the North Jacksonville Baptist Church, 8531 North Main Street, 32218. Her family will have a private time with her at the cemetery.

Officiating is Chris Coram, Associate Pastor. Music will be presented by Tim Rigdon, Music Minister, Jessica Winebarger, Devon Reed, soloists. A special audio presentation by her grandson will be at the end of the services.

Pallbearers are: Michael Bell, Jake Card, Randy McDuffie, Michael Bell, Collin Crosby, Christian Crosby and Josh Card.
