Dr. Victor V. Jay (Vytatutas Jurgelevicius), of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away at home on June 24, 2019. Dr. Jay was born on November 28, 1922, in Virbalis, Lithuania, to Jonas and Marija Kurtainitis Jurgelevicius (Jurgelis). He graduated from Eberhard Karls University of Tubingen in Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany in 1948 with a doctorate in medicine. Dr. Jay served as a Captain in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Dr. Jay raised his family and spent his years in Central Illinois practicing general medicine, surgery, and later became a specialist in family practice and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He and his wife retired to Florida in 1985. He is preceded in death by his three sisters, his wife of 54 years, Anne (Ona) Helene Pankavich Jay, and one daughter, Rosemary Schorsch. Surviving are his five children, his daughters, Rita of Jacksonville, FL, and Anne Marie Lester (Michael) of Flat Rock, NC; sons, Michael Jay (Diane) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, John Jay (Debra) of Prairie Village, KS, and Mark Jay (Karen) of Washburn, IL. as well as ten grandchildren, and two great grandsons. Mass of the Christian Burial and interment will be in Chicago, Illinois.
