Obituary

Albert Camille Poland Jr, 69, bravely went to meet The Lord on the morning of Tuesday, May
28, 2024.
Albert was born to Albert Camille Poland, Sr., and Lilly McAlpin Bull Mackay Poland on July 10,
1954, in Swindon, England. He moved with his mother and sister from Scotland to Sumpter,
S.C. where his dad was stationed. They soon moved to New Hampshire where he went to the
one room schoolhouse he boasted about so often.
Albert was well travelled by the time he was out of high school, having lived in Vermont, New
Hampshire, Scotland in the summers of ‘71 and ‘72, South Carolina, and New Zealand. In high
school, Albert ran cross country, sometimes barefoot, worked two jobs, and still went to school.
After high school he joined the Air Force and became an Avionics Crew Chief. He worked on
the F-4 Phantom and was stationed in England, and in Italy. He travelled many places while
stationed in England.
Albert got out of the Air Force and attended Spartan College of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK. He
lived with some friends in a very cold trailer while he focused on school and making a future for
himself. He went to work for McDonnell Douglas, working on the F-4 Phantoms. There were
company downsizes and a plethora of other beautiful challenges, however, this eventually
translated into a 30-year career at American Airlines, ending as a quality insurance inspector on
several fleets of American Airlines aircraft.
During that 30-year career, Albert was married and raised four children: Brandi Roper, Zachary
Poland, Albert Poland III, and Michelle Poland. Through his hard work, passion, and patience,
he laid the foundation for his children, and his children’s children.
Albert was a fighter. He always found the grit inside to persevere and could analyze any
situation to determine a solution. He was a brilliant man and a great guide. He was a Christ-led
man. His traits and characteristics illuminated his life and his children’s lives, and showed a man
that knew the truth and followed the truth with his whole heart.
Albert will be missed by his sisters, April Gill, Jennifer Johnson, and Heather Poland Frez, as
well as their families to whom he was close in his final years. He will be missed by his children,
Brandi and Michael Roper, Zachary and Heather Poland, Albert the III and Abbie Poland, and
Michelle Poland. He will be missed by his 10 grandchildren Colton, Addison, Logan, Maddison,
Abel, Evelynn, Allison, Vivian, Nathaniel, Dylan, and Elizabeth.
Albert is preceded in death by his Father and Mother, his sister Melody, and one grandchild
Landon, whom he is there to protect now. Memorial services with military honors will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 9 am at Jacksonville Nationville Cemetery, Jacksonville, Florida, using gate # 1. Cedar Bay Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
