Arthur Sahr Obituary

Arthur Frank Sahr, (84) passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024, with his loving family at his side. He was born June 9, 1939, in Queens, NY, to the late Edmond and Mildred (Bond) Sahr and has lived in Jacksonville for the past number of years. He is preceded in death by his brothers Ted, twin brother Alan, sisters, Ruth, Caroline, and Cookie, and grandson, Mike Hall.  Art retired from the US Navy as a Chief Machinist Mate after 26 six years of service. He then started his second career with the US Military as an alcohol and addictions Counselor from which he retired after 20 years. Arthur and his wife Sharon faithfully supported many animal rescue groups. They adopted and fostered many pets over the years.  Survivors include his wife of 26 years Sharon Williams Sahr, children, Betty Hughes (Don), Dennis Sahr (Stephanie), Beverly Hall (Todd),  Whitney Sahr, and Brian Sahr; stepchildren, Duane Westbrook (Karen), Tiffany Leigh (Gene), and Erick Williams; grandchildren, Jason Hughes, (Michelle) Chris Hughes (Kirsten), Jody Albert (Richard), Kayce Hall, and Brison Sahr and numerous step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 11 am in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, with Dr. Lynn Hyatt officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday starting at 10 am. Interment will follow at a later date in Jacksonville National Cemetery.
