Francis - Barbara Lucille Francis, age 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 3, 2025. She was born on September 14, 1934, to the late Earley and Lucille Davis, in Jacksonville, Florida. Barbara spent her professional career at Betz Paperchem, where she worked in Accounts Receivables until her retirement. Her dedication and work ethic were appreciated by her colleagues, many of whom became lifelong friends. Beyond her career, Barbara was known for the warmth and joy she brought to those around her. She had a deep love for her family and friends and was always ready with a welcoming hug and a bright smile. Holidays held a special place in Barbara’s heart. Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings were cherished traditions that brought everyone together. But for Barbara, any time of year was a good time for family. Barbara found great joy in fishing, whether it was at the local creek or during memorable trips to Canada with family and extended relatives from Michigan. Shopping was another favorite pastime, especially when shared with her daughter, Rhonda and Rhonda’s friends. Their girls’ trips to Atlanta were filled with fun and bonding; one particularly fond memory includes staying at her granddaughter, Brittany’s house during one of these excursions. Barbara also loved playing Bunco, a dice game, with her friends and co-workers. These gatherings rotated among their homes and were always accompanied by food, drinks, and plenty of laughter. Barbara will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Francis; daughter, Rhonda Rapp; and brother, Bud (Buddy) Davis.
Barbara leaves behind her loving sons, David Wayne Francis and Dale Milton Francis; grandchildren, Robert (Robbie) Grant, Brittney Francis-Spivey; great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Avaleigh, Harlie; and several nephews and nieces.
A Graveside Service for Barbara will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road Jacksonville, FL 32218, with Brother Thomas Emerson officiating.
