Bertha Hiatt Obituary

Bertha Marie Hiatt (Snider) age 90 went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July  20, 2021. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing. She  was born in Centralia, IL. She was one of eight children. She graduated from high  school in Centralia, IL. January 14, 1953 she married Edward Hiatt of Brownstown,  IL. They traveled and moved frequently because of Edward’s job. They settled in  Jacksonville, FL and she resided here for over 50 years. She and her husband owned  the Hi-Hat restaurant on the Northside back in the early 60’s. In the mid-60’s she then went to work for Blue Cross Blue Shield as a claims examiner. She remained in this career field with several different companies until she retired. She loved to  cook, bake, shop, travel and spend time with her family. She was a dedicated long  time member of Northside Bible Church. 

She is survived by her daughters: Ramona Hebert (Lynn), Robin Hiatt and Angela  Harmel (Dana). Her sisters: Judy Carruthers, Nancy Snider and Carolyn Wadkins. Her grandchildren: Jennifer Murto (Bill), Tina Nicholson (Brian), Kaare Shuman  (Chris), Casey Swing and Bridgette Swing (Mike Kaminski). Her great-grandchildren:  Liam Murto, Trevor Shuman, Tristan Murto, Aidan Murto, Aleigha Murto and Myles  Renfroe. Many loving nieces and nephews. Tinker, her dedicated 4 legged friend.  

She is preceded in death by her parents: George Snider Sr. and Wanita Snider. Her  husband of 49 years Edward Hiatt. Her brother and sisters: George Snider Jr., Betty Rife, Beverly Bloom and Donna Snider. Numerous brother-in-laws and sister-in laws. Longtime partner, Bill Haliburton.  Memorial services will be held on Saturday July 24, 2021 at 3pm in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, with Pastor Wayne Bailey officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home starting at 2pm.
