Obituary

Heers - Betty Heers, age 79, of Jacksonville, Florida, entered eternal rest on September 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 15, 1946.

Betty was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida and a proud member of Heckscher Drive Baptist Church, where her faith was the foundation of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. To her family, Betty was lovingly known as Granny, Mama, Mom, and Granny B; each name a reflection of the deep love she inspired in those closest to her.

On April 22, 1967, Betty married the love of her life, Roger. Their marriage was a true example of commitment and devotion, filled with love, laughter, and a bond that endured through all of life’s seasons.

Betty dedicated many years of service to Motion Industries, retiring in 2013. Retirement didn’t slow her down, and later Betty returned to work with the company, where she was admired for her strong work ethic and warm spirit.

Betty embraced life with joy and adventure. She loved cheering on the Jacksonville Jaguars at football games with her family, playing bingo, and traveling on cruises. Betty treasured her trips to Disney and SeaWorld and especially enjoyed getaways to Orlando with friends, where fellowship and laughter were always abundant. Yet, some of her happiest moments were the simplest ones, keeping her great-granddaughters, sharing ice cream treats, spending afternoons at the park, and playing whatever games they dreamed up. Whenever Betty spoke about her granddaughter and great-granddaughters, her face would light up with pride and joy.

Beyond her devotion to family and friends, Betty’s heart for service touched many lives. She was always finding ways to help those less fortunate, collecting clothing and personal items for those in need. She was especially known for preparing hundreds of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, faithfully giving her time and energy to ensure others were fed.

Through challenges and triumphs, Betty’s unwavering faith and love of God carried her. Her legacy is one of kindness, generosity, devotion, and faith. Mama always said, “Now don’t fret, I’ll be alright.” And now, with love and faith, her family says “Don’t fret, we will be alright.”

The tribute above was prepared by Betty’s loving family.
