Betty Kelley Smith of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021 at the age of 86. She was born on July 16, 1934, in Jacksonville, Florida, to John and Clara Kelley.
Betty graduated from Santa Monica High School in California. She retired after working many years as a Sorority House Mother at several colleges including University of Florida, University of Central Florida and Willamette University. She loved fishing, crochet/ knitting, crafts, cook outs with her family, loved to dance and working in her garden. Most of all she enjoyed being with her grandchildren.
Betty is preceded in death by her father, John O. Kelley; mother, Clara O. Kelley; brother, Harold J. Kelley and nephew, Terry Kelley. Survived by daughters, Lee Ann Joudi (Joe), Susan Smith; son, Gary Wendell (Trish); granddaughters, Denise Scarborough (Larry), Suzanne Winge (Michael), Jennifer Young (Stephen); great- granddaughters, Taylor, Haylee, Makayla, Makenzie, Arya; great-great-granddaughter Lilly; sister in law, Betty Kelley and nephews, Kenny, Larry and Dan Kelley (Tonda).
A Service of Remembrance in honor of Betty’s life will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road in Jacksonville with Sam Newman, Jr. officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
