Billy Joe Willis

Billy Joe Willis, age 77 of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away in his home on Saturday, April 15, 2023.  He is survived by his son, Michael Shon Willis, four grandchildren, Michael Shon Willis, Jr, Hope Weber, Alyssa Reed and Ally Wells, and four great grandchildren, older brother, Frankie Willis, two nieces, Cindy Smith and Robanne Morris and several others who love him dearly.

Billy was preceded in death by his longtime partner, Carol Kelly, son, Joel Willis, granddaughter, Krystal Jordan and beloved mother, Martha Willis.

Billy worked as a Motor Winder at General Electric for over 36 years and traveled

all over the world.  He retired from GE in 2003.  He remained very close to his friends (too many to name) who gave him the nickname "Lonesome Dove"!

We will name one, Roy Cooper, not only his longtime coworker, but next-door neighbor and best friend for over 50 years.

We can say Billy really enjoyed having you over for a cookout at his beautiful home, he loved tinkering with his 1955 and 1936 Chevys, and working in the yard. 

What can we say about Billy?  Billy was such a good hearted, patient, stand-up kind of man who was truly loved by so many.  We will cherish him and the fond memories he gave us to hold on to.  He will be greatly missed by all.  Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 11 am in Evergreen Cemetery 4535 N. Main Street, Jacksonville, FL.
