Brandon Leroy Owens was born to Robert Owens and Amber Parrish on January 18, 2006, in Portsmouth, Va. His family moved to Jacksonville, FL, his mother’s hometown, in 2008 for a Naval assignment. His silly demeanor and lovely soul brought joy to everyone who got the opportunity to meet him. He was diagnosed with Fredrick’s Ataxia and dilated cardiomyopathy in 2010 at the age of 4. He became an advocate for the local Muscular Dystrophy Association, speaking at numerous telethons and town hall events. He passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at the age of 17. He is preceded in death by his grandmothers, Patricia Owens and Cassandra Ryals.
Survivors include his mother and bonus Dad, Amber, and John Parrish; Father Robert Owens; grandfathers, Randy Ryals and Walter Owens, other grandparents, Marilyn, and Lewis Parrish; brother, Cody Parrish; sister, Patricia Owens, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, January 8th, 2024, at 5 pm in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville. The family will receive friends starting at 4 pm on Monday.
