Brenda Gail Hammons

Brenda Gail Hammons, 69, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 19, 2021. She is preceded in death by her sister, Sandra Zuniga, and brother Wayne Hall.  She was born in Pemiscot, Missouri, in 1952 to the late Joe Hall and Sally McBride (Cothran) Hammons and has lived most of her life in Jacksonville. Survivors include her husband Bruce Hammons; sons, Russell Mellroy, Jr and wife (Deann), and Bruce E. Hammons, Jr; daughters, Jacqueline Renee Jones and husband (Bill), and Sally Mellroy; sisters, Patricia McIntire, and Debbie Haskill; brothers, Tony Hall (Evelyn), Wade McBride (Margie), and Kenny McBride; grandchildren, Dwight Hulett, Russell Mellroy, III, Gregory S. Fowler, Hannah Mellroy, Justin Dunn, Jessica Jones, John Jones, Marshall Pickett, Jared Jones, and Kristopher S. Fowler; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at 11 am in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, with Pastor Ray Mooney officiating. The family will receive friends starting at 10 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Jacksonville.
