It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of Bruce Horace Barnes, 65, of Jacksonville, Florida on Tuesday, October 25th 2022.
Born in Macon, Georgia on September 25th 1957, Bruce's family relocated to Jacksonville in 1967, where he attended Sandalwood High School before finding meaningful employment at JEA and Fidelity Information Services (19 years). Being a hard worker, he never failed to achieve and exceed expectations.
Bruce will always be remembered for being a dutiful and loving father, caring for two daughters, and two stepsons like they were his own. He was also a nurturing grandfather, beloved brother, and remarkable friend to many. He loved the Jacksonville Jaguars, food of all kinds, road tripping, relaxing at the beach, seeing live music, gardening, and enjoying everything that life had to offer; even the little things that are so often overlooked. If you knew Bruce, you know he loved nothing more than to share his knowledge and lend a helping hand to those in need.
He is predeceased by his parents, Evelyn and Ernest Barnes, his stepson, Derek Lacy, and brother, Mark Barnes. Left behind to cherish his memories are his siblings, Joel Barnes and Velvet Barnes, 2 daughters; Brittani Cordero-Barnes (and husband, Oscar) and Chelsea Barnes, stepson Jason Lacy (and wife, Kimberly), niece Alexis Hagins and 3 grandchildren; Connor Lacy, Allison Lacy, and Adelaide Cordero-Barnes.
In lieu of flowers, fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared here and at www.cedarbayfuneralhome.com.
