Bruce Cannon Obituary

Bruce Cannon, age 68, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2020. He was born on January 3, 1952, in Maxville, Florida, where he was raised before eventually making his way to Jacksonville. He was a long-time member at Macedonia Baptist Church and a current member of Hillcrest Baptist Church on Crystal Springs. He was also a member of the Florida Army National Guard.
Bruce Cannon never met a stranger and could rarely identify when a conversation was reaching its terminus. The adage: “Never discuss politics or religion in polite company” was like many other rules Bruce resisted with a light-hearted rebellious smile. He was energized by his interactions with people, and he enjoyed and loved them more than money and material possessions. Conversation was his currency, joking was his full-time job, and loving others more lucrative to him than anything he owned. Despite how Bruce felt, where he was, or what time of the night it may have been, a phone call to Bruce came with an assurance that he would be there for you, to help, any way he could. Any attempt at listing these occurrences would simultaneously touch your heart and soon irritate you as you began to grasp how this list might never end. Above all others, though, his life revolved around his family – especially his wife, Donna, and his two grandchildren: Conner and Loralei.
Bruce was preceded in death by parents, Nathaniel Lester and Ollie Mae (Bornstein) Cannon; and his brother, Nathan Cannon. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Donna Cannon; his daughter, Nikki Cannon-Page (Kevin); his son, Kyle Cannon (Ashley); brother, Mike Cannon; sisters, Gloria Godwin and Helen Auston; beloved grandchildren, Conner Page and Loralei Cannon; along with many other family members and numerous friends.
