Cossie William Brown, Jr.

Cossie William Brown, Jr., 84, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023. He was born in St. Cloud, Florida in 1939 to the late Cossie, Sr. and Temperance (Mann) Brown and has lived most of his life in Jacksonville. He is preceded in death by his son Timmy Brown. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Betty; sons, Steve (Diana), and Cossie III (Alisa); daughters, Rita (Eddie), and Donna (Amanda); bonus son, Billy (Delores); sister, Sue Platt; brother, Don Brown; 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild on the way. Cossie worked for the Elevator industry for 35 years and retired from Otis Elevator. He was a member of the IUEC Local # 49. He was a veteran and served in the US Army. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend and will be dearly missed by all. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 11 am in the Dunns Creek Baptist Church of Oceanway with pastor Dave Malmberg officiating. Interment will follow with military honors in Jacksonville National Cemetery at 1 pm. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday starting at 10 am.
