Debra Jean Higdon, 65, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2022. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida in 1957 to the late E.R. and Marguerite (Daniels) Poteet. She was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, class of 1975, and had lived in Maxville most of her life. Debra is preceded in death by her husband, Marty Higdon; sister Joan; and brother, Floyd. Debra was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend and will be dearly missed by all. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her sons, Marty Higdon (Tiffany), Tony Higdon, Jami Higdon, and Colton Higdon all of Maxville; brothers, Ray Poteet and Emmert Poteet; brothers-in-law, Joe Higdon, Lonnie Higdon, and Davie Higdon; sister-in-law, Rita Hazelwood, all of Maxville; grandchildren, Hughstin, Marty, Jr, Michelle, Austin, Seth, Kearstin, Liberty, and Case; great-grandchild, Hampton, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, in the First Baptist Church of Maxville, with Rev. Terry Yerby officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday starting at 10 am in the church. Interment will follow in Long Branch Cemetery, Maxville.
