Debra Joyce Kennedy

Debra Joyce (Sheppard) Kennedy went home to be with her Savior in Heaven on Sunday, May 10, 2020. She is preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Sheppard, and survived by her father Wayne Sheppard, daughters Jessica Durbin (Justin) and Morgan Teston (Kevin), grandson Evan Durbin, former husband Bruce Kennedy, stepsons Chip and Paul and their children and grandchildren, stepsister Laura Truett and her children, plus aunts, uncles and many cousins here in Florida and in her home state of Virginia. Debbie will undoubtedly be remembered as someone who served — in her home, at her daughters’ and grandson’s schools, at her church with children’s ministry and seniors’ ministry, in her work at neighborhood voting polls and at Sam’s Club. Too many special memories to name, with friends and loved ones dear, but most of all, she enjoyed traveling. She loved taking trips and never said ‘no’ to an adventure. From the Grand Canyon, to New York City, to Key West, she saw the Ark and the Grand Ole Opry and the Gateway Arch and Biltmore Estate, climbed to the top of lighthouses, ziplined and parasailed, rode on waterslides and rollercoasters and jet skis. Treasured memories of a life well-lived will forever bring a smile to those who were blessed to know Debbie. Her legacy is one of faith, passed to her from her parents and on to her children and grandchildren, whose hope lies in knowing they will see Debbie again one day. The family will receive visitors at Cedar Bay Funeral Home on Thursday May 14 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A graveside service for the family will be held at 11am on Friday May 15 at Evergreen Cemetery with Pastor Jason Masters presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Debbie Kennedy’s name to Ronald McDonald House, an organization she always supported
