Wampler - Debbie Wampler, age 71, of Jacksonville, Florida, beat ALS and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on September 13, 2026. She left her destroyed body and got her new one at 4:40 a.m.For you that knew her outspoken, funny, sick sense of humor way, it would be no surprise that she took this head on with strength and rock solid faith like have never seen before. On Thursday she said she was tired of fighting to breathe and tired of this condition, she just wanted to see her late husband, Robert. She made the decision to have no more treatment. Her condition was septic bilateral pneumonia at that point. Friday and Saturday she had so many people visit her at Mayo and at hospice, it was amazing. Debbie had such a huge extended family after we moved her up here. And she loved all of you as much as you loved her. Our family, Evans, Hughes, Simmons, Taylors, Smiths, Avants, Bunkleys, Masks, Anna Maria Family, all of the ALS team that showed up to visit, family at Dolphin Pointe, and so many more, THANK YOU FOR LOVING DEBBIE THE WAY YOU DID.
If you didn't know Debbie “Debo” she was one of the smartest and strongest people ever known. The love of her life was her husband, Robert, who lost his battle with Covid; but her second love was Keith Urban, seriously. Debbie and Robert met Keith Urban while playing at a venue in Niceville, FL, before he was famous! Debbie was a product of the 60's and you know what that means, bra burner and you know, LOL. She ran the advertising department for the Atlanta Constitution for years and then moved to Anna Maria Island. Debbie became lead at a lab that specialized in perfecting lilies (the flower) and making them disease free and bug resistant so their bulbs could be shipped around the world. She was actually "written up" in a science journal through UF regarding her work there. Debbie also ran the billing department at Coastal Orthopedic in Bradenton for years. No matter what she did, she always turned out to be the number one person wherever she was. She loved to love on people. In her last years in Anna Maria she was a caretaker for a beautiful, real live Wiki Wachi Springs Mermaid that had dementia, Beverly. While she was at Dolphin Pointe Facility here in Jacksonville she constantly ran around loving on the residents there when they needed some reassurance and someone to show they cared. She loved people and they loved her! Debbie was the garage sale QUEEN of Bradenton! Something she was passionate about for sure. There will never be another one like her, she was wonderful!
Family Note: Dear God, thank you for our time with Debbie. Thank you for allowing us to reconnect over the last three and half years, I will never be able to express what a blessing that was that You gave me. I know that all good things in my life come from Your grace and not my works. I know that Debbie is one of Your saints in Heaven with a new unbroken body and reunited with our sister, Sandy; husband, Robert; our parents, John and Barbara; and loved ones that have gone home before us and I hope all of her cats, especially Max! Please let her know that we did the best we could to take care of her here and that even though our spirit rejoices that she is home with You, our flesh is crushed and our hearts are broken. Please provide peace, comfort and love for all that loved and cherished her here on earth.... Amen I Love you God.
The tribute above was prepared by Debbie’s loving family.
