Bodway – It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dixie Cope Bodway, age 88, of Jacksonville, Florida. Dixie went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 11, 2026, after a brief illness. She passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her family. Dixie was born on June 21, 1938, in Jacksonville, Florida. The oldest of the late Alton W. Cope and Ruby Marie Cope. In addition to her parents, Dixie was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William Haldon Bodway, Sr.; sons, William Haldon Bodway, Jr., and Richard Allen Bodway.
Dixie loved everything southern, she loved to tour old southern homes from Savannah to Charleston. Her enjoyment of entertaining and having tea parties for her family was evident. For many years she would host garden parties and tea parties at her home. Dixie was a long-time member of North Florida Baptist Church. She would tell you that her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the greatest accomplishments in her life.
Dixie is survived by her loving children, son, Curtis Brian Bodway and daughter, Dixie Bodway Creech (Bobby); 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her siblings and many friends.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Dixie’s exceptional life will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at North Jacksonville Baptist Church, 8531 N. Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32218. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church. Dixie’s family is inviting all who knew and loved Dixie to join in honoring her memory.
