Dr. James Mastian Christian 

Dr. James Mastian Christian, 90, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021.  He was born September 23, 1930, in Bland County, VA, to the late Alvis Mastian and Gladys Christian, and had lived in Jacksonville, FL, for the past 12 years, coming here from Southeast Florida. James is predeceased by his wife, Christine Wise Christian, and his daughter Maria Hawthorne. Survivors include his son, Thomas Christian (Grace), of Jacksonville, FL, daughters, Carol Christian, of Yulee, FL, Rebecca Peluso, of St Johns, FL, Ingrid Phipps (Michael), of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Franklin Ezell (Lena), William Hawthorne (Grace), Anna Slavin (Max), Rachel and Katie Hawthorne, Kristen, Ella and Emma Peluso, Christopher, Harrison and Meredith Phipps; great grandson Archie James Slavin; foster son, David McCarty, of East Palatka; a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 10 to 11 a.m. with services to follow at Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, FL.
