Elba Howard Caldwell

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Elba Howard Caldwell who left us on Monday, 6/17/2024.  He was 73 years old.
Elba was born on 6/16/1951 to Harrie and Alma Caldwell (deceased) of Callahan.  He grew up in Jacksonville, Florida where he attended Andrew Jackson High School.  After school as a young man, Elba enlisted with the Army National Guard. 
Elba was a hardworking and dedicated person who excelled in his career as a Millwright. Elba worked as a Superintendent with Milton J Woods; from whence he retired after 30+ years.  He was known for his exceptional skills and professionalism, and was respected by his colleagues and peers alike.
Despite his busy schedule, Elba always made time for his family and friends.  He was a loving and caring brother who was always there for Dewey whenever he needed him.  He had a great sense of humor and always knew how to put a smile on someone’s face.
In his free time, Elba enjoyed the beach in his younger years, was known as a hunter on more than one occasion, loved a good Nascar race, bluegrass music, visiting the mountains, playing a hand of cards, sweet tea, and just about anything chocolate!
Elba is survived by his younger brother Dewey Caldwell (Mary) of Callahan, Firefighter Shelby Caldwell his niece of Gainesville, Ella Kay, and Jerry Williams who were more like best friends than cousins, his Aunts and Uncles and many cousins who love and will miss him dearly. 
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, 6/21/24 at 11:00 am at Cedar Bay Funeral Home on 405 New Berlin Road in Jacksonville, FL,  followed by Interment at Evergreen Cemetery. 

In memory of Elba his family requests you learn how to enjoy life, don’t put off what you want to do today for tomorrow; as one never knows when God will call you home. 

Rest in peace, dear son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and best friend.  You will always be in our hearts and memories.
