Elizabeth Leggett

Elizabeth Leggett passed away on Tuesday, September 10th, 2024 at her home in North
Jacksonville, FL. She was 85 years old.
Elizabeth was born in Jacksonville, FL on February 10th, 1939 at St. Luke’s Hospital to James
David and Gene Marie McCollough. She was brought home to Kingsland, GA where she grew
up alongside her four siblings—Lavonia, Lara, Donna, and David.
After graduating from Camden County High School, Elizabeth moved to Jacksonville to work at
the Southern Baptist Convention Headquarters. There, she met Max Leggett— the love of her
life and husband for 48 years. They tied the knot on July 23rd, 1961 and built their homestead
together on the North side of town that came to be known today as Max’s Farm. They were
pillars in their community who hosted countless church, community, and political functions. The
families of NJBC will never forget the numerous church events they held including square
dances, bonfires, hayrides, lock-ins and more.
Elizabeth was a committed, faithful follower of Christ. Her and Max spent four decades
attending North Jacksonville Baptist Church, where they served as Sunday School teachers and
department leaders for young married couples. They continued their devotion and service at
The First Baptist Church of Jacksonville for 10 years and another five years at Bold City in
Oceanway.
She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. The dedication of Max Leggett Parkway
honored not just Max Leggett but also Elizabeth Leggett and their commitment to the North
Jacksonville community.
Mrs. Leggett is survived by her three children [Scott (Genny) Leggett , Stephen (Trinthia)
Leggett, and Amy (Derrick) Rodriguez] along with her nine grandchildren [Christen, McKay,
Max, Zach, Peyton, Drew, Bradley, Quinn, and Emery], and six great-grandchildren [Shane
Kodiak, Lucia, Scotty Atlas, Isabella, Brooks, and Valerie].
A family and friends visitation and viewing will be held on Friday, September 13th at Cedar Bay
Funeral Home from 6-9 PM.  Jason Masters and her brother-in-law, Stevie Leggett, will be officiating the private
service for the family. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please
