Erma Clarice (McNatt) Jordan

Our dearly loved Erma, 98, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sat. Sept 7, 2024. She was born on November 21, 1925, in Jacksonville, Fl. to Floyd and Aline McNatt. She married the Love of her life, James Louis Jordan on July 21, 1944, and celebrated 51 years together until his death Dec. 25, 1995.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by her youngest son.

Jeffrey Victor Jordan, grandson Kevin Scott Jordan, and brothers Clyde, Robert, and Donald McNatt.

Erma is survived by her children James R. "Skizzy" (Paula) and Jerry S. (Cindy), grandchildrer Stephanie Nunez, Ryan Jordan, step grandson Jonathon Thorwart (Hope), great grandchildren Angelica and Vernetta, step-great grandchildren Landon and Emily. She was blessed to have a loving extended family, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Erma graduated from Andrew Jackson Senior High School 1944. During her adult life she worked for the Army Corp of Engineers as a typist. She was also a floral designer, wall paper hanger, food distribution sales representative, a "powder puff gal" for Sunbeam Bakery, and co• owner with her husband of two BBQ restaurants, "The Cactus" and the "Tally-Ho" of which she wore many hats of hostess, waitress, and bookkeeper. She was the most compassionate caregiver for her husband, mother, father, aunt and friends.

Her many talents include creative crafting, interior decorating, sewing her own clothes, painting, a homemaker with superb cooking skills and even making her children's (and Her) Halloween costumes. She could do almost anything, nothing too small or too large to attempt and achieve.

As an involved community member she was a poll worker administrator for over 30 years, an active and founding member in her Homeowners Association at "The Cape" of which she served on the board for many years, secretary of Florida Peace Officers Association, and founding member of a "Red Hats" Ladies group. She organized several ladies to form a lip-sync group called the "Andrew Sisters" to entertain at functions of groups that could identify with the original Andrew Sisters (their songs, the USO and World War II). She also might be considered a "professional" Volunteer as she was always assisting with the USO during WWII, PTA school functions, Holiday Food Server for The Salvation Army, church projects and the church's food ministry. Erma was always active until her health declined. As proof, she drove her car until age 95. For many years she was an active member of Northshore Christian Church and raised her boys there for a Christian foundation of church and family. Later she helped establish and was founding member of Starrett Rd. Christian Church, which is now Christ's Church River City Campus. She later attended Oceanside Christian Church, Atlantic Beach.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024, 11:00 am in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home with the Reverend Doug Allen officiating. Visitation with family will be held from 10-11, one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, 7242 Normandy Blvd. following the service at 1:00 for graveside. There will be NO motorcade.
