Obituary

Willis - Evelyn Kay Wiggins, age 71, passed away peacefully at her home on Black Hammock Island in Jacksonville, Florida on October 16, 2025. Born July 10, 1954, Evelyn was the beloved and only daughter of Leon Wiggins and Agnes Annis. In 1971, she married the love of her life, Richard “Carl” Willis, Jr. They shared 38 years of marriage, until his passing in 2009. Together they built a beautiful family. Evelyn was the proud mother to Wendy and Jeannie, and later lovingly adopted her granddaughter, Kortney, as her own. Evelyn and Carl loved fishing and camping at Salt Springs and spending time with their family. She held a special place in her heart for her great-grandson, Little Daniel. Evelyn’s heart was as big as her personality—she was full of life, humor, and love for her family. She cherished every moment spent with those she loved and left behind countless memories of laughter and warmth. Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Agnes Wiggins; and husband, Carl Willis.

Evelyn is survived by her two daughters, Wendy Willis and Jeannie Lee (Michael); six grandchildren, Kortney Willis-Hysmith (Daniel), Jessica Goodson, Jennifer Lee, Haili Yourn, Cody Lee, and Brandy Lee; and six great-grandchildren.

The tribute above was prepared by Evelyn’s loving family.

A private Celebration of Evelyn’s Life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 2:30 p.m., where family and friends will gather to honor the woman who made every room brighter just by being in it.
