Florine Freeman, 86, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully on December 14, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. Florine was born on February 7, 1938, to Roscoe and Ida Walden in Uvalda, Georgia, and moved to Florida at age 12, where she attended Andrew Jackson High School. At the age of 18, she met and married Eugene Freeman. Florine and Gene spent 54 years happily married and raised three children: James Edward, Ricky Joe, and Bonnie Jean.
Florine spent the earlier years of her life being a happy homemaker and later worked at Drummond Press for 20 years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, shopping, and decorating her house. Her greatest love in life was her family.
Florine is survived by her son, Ricky Joe Freeman; daughter, Bonnie Jean Boardman; son-in-law, Larry Darren Boardman; grandchildren, Rachael Michelle Powers, Lee Tan Powers, Patrick Joseph Freeman and a great-grandson, Brett Ethan Powers. Florine’s celebration of life will be at Cedar Bay Funeral Home located at 405 New Berlin Road Jacksonville, Florida 32218 on Monday, December 18, 2023., Pastor John Shultz officiating. The family will receive visitors beginning at 5:30 p.m. and services will begin at 6:30 p.m.
