Frieda Howard Rushing

Ms Frieda Howard Rushing, 92, passed Wednesday, 8/28/24 at her residence after a brief
illness. She was born in Blackshear, GA but was a long-time resident of Jacksonville, Fl
and Keystone Heights, FL. She is the daughter of the late Lemuel and Holly Howard. She is
preceded in passing by her husband Ernie Rushing, and her previous husband of 25 years, Thurman Dubberly, her beloved daughter Debbie Barfield,
her niece Nikole Turner and her siblings,
Inez,Gladys,Florrie,Fairol, Enorma,Dorothy,Marvin,Harry,Talmadge and Vernon.
She is survived by her Children Thurmette (Roger), Violet(wayne), Clay,(Vanessa) .(Rudy)
and 21 grandchildren,18 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-great-grandchildren
Our mama loved being with her family, she loved to eat and loved laughing more than life
itself and had wit like no other. She never met a stranger and was loved by everyone who
knew her and not many could resist her beautiful infectious smile and personality. This
world will not be the same without her in it because she was so very special and very
strong, and always smiling no matter what was going on in her life, she was definitely one of
a kind, as we were all so very blessed to have her as our mama/meemaw. And we will
always carry with us her favorite saying of “Laughter is the Best Medicine.”
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 7th at 11 am at Cedar Bay Funeral
home on New Berlin Road. The family will receive friends from 10-11, and the private Family
viewing will be between 9-10 a.m.
Burial will be at Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church cemetery in Blackshear, GA at 2;30 pm.
Cedar Bay Funeral home is in charge of the arrangements.
