Gale Dees Paschal passed away August 15, 2023 peacefully in the presence of family and
friends. She was born to Jimmie and Edith Dees on October 7, 1946. She grew up in
Jacksonville, Florida and was a member of the Ribault High School class of 1964.She was a
member of the cheerleading squad where she made friends and continued those friendships
for almost sixty years.
After high school she joined the family business, Dees Incorporated and later became owner
and President of the business. Gale had many accomplishments as a minority business
owner. In 2002 she was named Entrepreneur of the Year and Business Woman of the Year.
Under her leadership the business contributed to many projects in and around Jacksonville
such as the inaugural Jacksonville Jaguar stadium. These projects led to her business being
named the 2002 Construction Firm of the Year. In her spare time she enjoyed the beach,
reading and spending time with friends and family. She loved coaching and winning little
league softball championships.
Gale is predeceased by her parents Jimmie and Edith Dees, her sister Terry Ann Dees, her
brother Mickey Blaine Dees. She leaves behind her daughter Dana Gayle Paschal,
Fernandina Beach, Florida. Her son Jim Paschal, Fernandina Beach, Florida. Amy Griffin,
Thomasville, Georgia.
Her sister Laverne Webb (Allen), St. Michael's, Maryland, a sister Kay McGee (Ray), Vidalia,
Georgia, and her most beloved brother Jamie Dees, St. Augustine, Florida.
Her nephew Alex Dane Tron- Pierce, Portland, Oregon, Her niece Kylan Dees (Eric),
Jacksonville, Florida, Kyle Griffin, Hahira, Georgia, Kayla Becton(Evan), Valdosta, Georgia. A
great niece Rachael Tron- Pierce, Rensselaer, Indiana, Anna Kate Becton, Valdosta, Georgia.
The family wishes to thank Tim and Jeannie Lindsey, and Jennifer Benfield for their steadfast
love, care and support. In addition, the family wishes to thank the nursing staff on the 7 th floor
at Baptist Medial Center, Baptist MD. Anderson, Dr. Rezac and Dr. Anderson, Fernandina
Beach, Florida for the superior care and support of Gale.
The Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday August 19, 2023 at Cedar Bay
Funeral Home 405 New Berlin Road. The family will begin receiving friends at 10:00 am. The
interment will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery.
