Watson Gerald (Jerry) Lester Watson, 76, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022 at his home with his loving family at his side. He was born in 1946 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Woodfin and Vesta Watson, was raised and spent his life on the Northside of Jacksonville. He was a Veteran and served in the US Navy, stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. He was a member of the Rod Runners Car Club, the International Union of Elevator Constructors - Local 49, and a member of North Jacksonville Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Watson. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Becky Watson, daughters, Michelle Strickland (Danny), and Mandi McCracken (Seth); brother, Ronnie Watson; sister in law Dorothy Watson; grandchildren, Macey, Kendall, Bryce, Jack, and Kate, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022 at 11am in the North Jacksonville Baptist Church, 8531 N. Main Street, Jacksonville, with Rev. Tim Rigdon officiating. The family has requested for the Hot Rod community to join in the funeral procession line, interment with military honors will follow at the Jacksonville National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 3pm until 5pm at Cedar Bay Funeral Home 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, FL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Community Hospice of N.E. Florida.
