Gladys Elizabeth Wright

Gladys Elizabeth (Ferguson) Wright, age 97, of Jacksonville, died peacefully on March 15 at her daughter’s home. Mrs. Wright was born in Daytona, FL, to William B. and Rosa Mae Ferguson but lived in Jacksonville until early adulthood. She was married for 76 years to Elder McKinley Wright, and, as a minister’s wife she lived in Macon, GA; Barnesville, GA; and Jennings, FL; they returned to Jacksonville upon her husband’s retirement from the ministry. She was a devoted wife and mother and was very active as a minister’s wife. She is survived by her husband, McKinley; a daughter, Susan Skulskie; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Brenda Wright; one granddaughter, Jamie Wright; one grandson, Ken Britt; and one great-grandson, Hayden Wright. She was preceded in death by two sons, John William Wright and Joseph Reid Wright. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to any authorized organization providing humanitarian or freedom-fighting support for the people of Ukraine. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday March 22, 2022 at Riverside Primitive Baptist Church, 702 Dellwood Avenue, Jacksonville, Fl., with Elders Lee Chambers and Bill Mullis officiating. The family will receive friends at the church starting at 10am on Tuesday. Internment will be held on Wednesday march 23rd at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 12:30. The family will gather at the church at 11:30 am on Wednesday for procession to the National Cemtery.
