Avera Harry Clinton Avera 84, passed away on Sunday December 29, 2019. He was born in Jacksonville, FL., to the late Daniel and Rosa (Smith) Avera. He is preceded in death by his son, Harry Craig Avera, daughters, Cynthia Powers, and Clarice Avera, and 3 brothers and one sister. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He enjoyed building race cars, fishing and anything on the water. He was a Merchant Mariner and retired as a Chief Engineer on a Tug boat. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Carolyn; son, Clint Avera and wife (Donna); brother, Daniel Avera and wife (Joyce); grandchildren, Gary, Donny, Malena, Brandon, and Hannah, great grandchildren, Christopher, Donny II, Tegan, Talan, Shelby, Hunter, Bransen and Mia, great great grandchildren, Jaxson, Mason, Cadyen, and Leighton. And a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday January 3, at 11am in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, with Rev. William Forde officiating. Interment will follow in Restlawn Cemetery, Jacksonville. The family will receive friends on Friday morning starting at 10am at the funeral home.
