Cannon - Herminia de Padua Cannon, age 87, of Jacksonville, Florida went to be with the Lord on April 24, 2026, surrounded by family. She was born on December 15, 1938, in Banaue, Philippines. Herminia was adopted by Virgilio and Corazón (Rosie) de Padua in the Philippines. When Herminia was 12 years old the family moved to the United States and resided in Chicago, IL then moved to Jacksonville, FL where she graduated from Englewood High School. After graduation she went on to cosmetology school where she met her husband, Robert Cannon. They got married, raised two daughters, and have lived in their San Mateo home since 1971. Herminia worked alongside Robert in their salon for 35+ years and later at various salons until retirement.
Herminia loved working in the yard planting fruit trees, vegetables and flowers. She would rather be outside walking or working in the yard than in the house doing anything, except babysitting her granddaughters when they were little. She loved sewing; making most of her girl’s clothes and her grandbabies dresses, along with making and hemming clothes for others with love and care. She liked being around friends and neighbors and volunteered on weekends in her neighborhood community. Herminia and Robert had many family and friend gatherings at their home and the beauty salon for BBQ’s and birthdays. Herminia loved cooking and she was like MacGyver in the kitchen. She could turn some leftover chicken and a couple vegetables into a four-course meal for 8.
Herminia loved her family, friends and the Lord and prayed often. She was a loving and caring person, a strong woman who always kept going no matter what. She was always there when you needed her, someone who showed love through the little things she did every day. She will be remembered for her strength, her kindness and the love she gave so freely.
Herminia is survived by her husband, Robert; daughters, Laurel Cannon and Kelly Williams (Blair); granddaughters, Bristol Carey (Colby) and Karissa Morrison (Carter); brothers, Nap de Padua, Bobby de Padua (Cindy) and Paddy de Padua (Lala); sisters, Leila de Padua (James), Cynthia de Padua (David), Susan Snodgrass Wilkinson (Henry) and Laurel de Padua; 12 nephews and nieces, as well as many in-laws and friends.
The tribute above was prepared by Herminia’s loving family.
