Irene Alice Mclellan

It is with deep sadness that we announce that Irene Alice Forbes McLellan has lost her
battle with cancer and has passed on to her eternal home with her savior, Jesus Christ
on January 4, 2024. Irene passed peacefully at her home in Jacksonville, Florida,
surrounded by her family. Irene was born on January 2, 1950 in Providence, Rhode
Island.
She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Friend and enjoyed the VFW Ladies
Auxiliary, the local Senior Center, attending church and serving as a greeter at
Oceanway Assembly of God, where she also loved participating in circle groups with
her church family. One of Irene’s favorite hobbies was making crafts of all sorts! She
enjoyed crossword puzzles, and building puzzles with her husband; as well as her many
handheld and computer games. When together with her family and friends, there would
be a lot of fun playing board games, dominoes and card games.
Irene always put her family, friends and often the needs of others before her own.
She loved reading her Bible, and rarely missed a day. Her faith in Jesus was evident in
how she lived her life. Her church family enjoyed her smiling face every week as she
and her husband Wayne greeted those coming to worship at their church. She loved her
children and her grandchildren dearly. Irene loved to learn of what her grandchildren
were doing and what their future plans were.
She is survived by her loving Husband, Wayne McLellan, Sr.; Daughter Terry McLellan
Ballard, and her husband, Troy; Son, Wayne McLellan, Jr., and his wife, Barbara, Son,
Jaime McLellan; Son, Anthony McLellan, and his wife, Karen; Granddaughters,
Rebecca & Allyson; Grandsons, Foster, James, and AJ; and her Foreign Exchange
Student, Ferdinand (Ferdi) Eimler.
Irene was preceded in death by Her mother, Mary St. Cyr Forbes, and father, Harold
Forbes in 1958 and 1963, respectively; her Father-In-Law, Ambrose McLellan in 1987,
and her Mother-In-Law, Bertha Whitney McLellan in 2007.
Family and close friends may call Oceanway Church, 12240 Sago Ave W.,
Jacksonville, FL 32218, Friday, January 12, 2024, beginning at 1:30 pm. All friends may
call at 2:00 pm followed by a celebration of life and funeral services. Reception to follow.
A burial with family and close friends will follow at 9 am on Monday, January 15, 2024, at Jacksonville National Cemetery using lane 1.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
