James Thompson Obituary

James Edward Thompson, 56 was born on March 22nd 1965 in Jacksonville Florida to Mark and Gladys Thompson. James was the 2nd son of three, Mark Thompson Jr. being the oldest and David Thompson coming 15 months later. All three were raised in a farm life style, through Oceanway almost on Black Hammock Island, In Jacksonville FL, where we all worked Planting crops and taking care of livestock. James went to Andrew Jackson High school high school earning his diploma. James Thompson Proudly Served his country in the United States Marine Corps from June 1984-August 1990 as a 0811 Field Artillery Battery Man, earning a final rank of Sargent. During his Military Service he earned a Good Conduct Medal (w/1Star ), Letter of appreciation, Sea service Deployment Ribbon, Rifle expert Badge. Duty stations included Parris Island South Carolina Camp Lejeune North Carolina and Kaneohe Hawaii. James Thompson was a member of the Marine Corps League post 1017 he served as Commandant from March 2010- march 2011, and earned Marine of the year award in 2015 at the Marine Corps Ball. James Thompson was a very Avid Toys for Tots Volunteer. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 0054. He volunteered in Nassau County for numerous Veteran Community Organized events James was employed by the Jacksonville Aviation Authority, From March 1991 till May 2021 working as the Facilities Sign Shop Technician to create all the signage at the Jacksonville International Airport. James Thompson passed away on October 19, 2021 and is preceded in death by his Father Mark Thompson Sir. And Brother Mark Thompson Jr. and is survived by his Mother, Gladys Thompson, Wife Summer Thompson, Daughter Ciara Thompson, , and Brother David Thompson. Funeral service will be will held at The Jacksonville National Cemetery at 4083 Lannie Rd Jacksonville Florida 32218 (904-766-5222) on Tuesday November 2, 2021 at 1:00PM.
