James Carrol Gay, Sr.

Gay                                        James Carrol Gay, Sr., 70, passed away on Sunday August 29, 2021. He was born in Baxley Georgia in 1951 to the late Felton and Macie (Nail) Gay. James was employed by Atlantic Coast Asphalt Company of Jacksonville. James is preceded in death by his siblings Myrtice and Bobbie Jean, and daughter Paula Gay.

 Survivors include his soulmate of 28 years, Linda Turner, daughter, Jeannie Gay and son, James Gay, Jr.

 step children, Jeanie Simmons, Bobby Turner, James Simmons, Evelyn Register, and Brandon Zima; sisters, Betty and Linda .Grandchildren, Michael Richards, Christopher Hughes, Chelsie Hughes, Dylan Cane, Kendall Turner, Logan Turner, Amanda Simmons, Kristan Simmons, Amber Scott, Linda Johnston, Alex Givens, James Buttler, Brian Dempsey and James Simmons, Jr.

Great grandchildren, Nathan Hughes, Hunter Singletary, Thelma, William, Aiden, Arabella, Marcus, and Malakai.

Funeral services will be held on Monday September 13, 2021 at 11am in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, with Rev. Lyle Shiferdek, Jr officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery Jacksonville.  The family will receive friends starting at 10am on Monday at the funeral home.
