James Glen Hughes, Jr., age 63, passed away on Monday, March 6th, 2023, in Baker County, Florida. He was born on May 18th, 1959, in Jacksonville, Florida. He graduated from Baldwin High School, Class of ’79. He was Baptist by faith and lived in Maxville and Jacksonville his entire life. He worked for W.W. Gay Mechanical Contractor Inc. for 27 years when he retired. He enjoyed hunting with his friends and was a huge Florida Gator football fan, loved Nascar racing, and loved his hero John Wayne.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Glen Hughes, Sr., and Amy Ruth Little Hughes, also his best buddy, Woody Higginbotham.
James is survived by his two sisters, Carol Lee Miller and Lisa Ruth Swan (Joseph); 3 nephews, James Miller (Teya), Damien Miller (Tara), and Christopher Swan; niece, Amy Swan; great-nephew, Ash Miller; great-niece, River Miller; Best Friend/ Brother from another mother, Jeff Hendricks (Missi) and their daughter, Laura Rogers (Travis) and their son, Kyle Hendricks (Cierra) and his W.W. Gay friends and family.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 13th. 2023 at 11 am at Long Branch Baptist Church with Pastor Harry Conaway officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Long Branch Cemetery. His church family will provide a meal after the services in the fellowship hall at the church.
