Jessie Amelia Chitty, 71, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, February 3, 2024, with her loving family at her side. She was born in Wildwood, Florida in 1952 to the late Jess H. Purcell and Sudie (Floyd) Purcell and has lived in Jacksonville for 53 years. She was Baptist by faith and attended Dunns Creek Baptist Church. She graduated from Wildwood High School class of 1970 and attended Lake-Sumter Community College. She was a loving housewife, mother, sister, and friend and will be dearly missed. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Charles U. Chitty, Jr.; sons, Charles U. Chitty, III (Kim) and Chad A. Chitty; brother, Jimmy Purcell (Lena), sister, Amanda Purcell Young; nieces, Melanie (David), Christie (Jake), Nicole, Amy Mayfield (Kevin), nephew, Michael Young, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024, at 3 pm in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, with Rev. Dave Malmberg officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday starting at 2 pm. Interment will follow in Ferreira Cemetery, Jacksonville.
