Although his smile is gone forever and his hand we cannot touch, we still have the memories of the one we loved so
much. His memory is now our keepsake with which we will never part. God has him in His keeping and we have him
in our heart. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
Joel Lester Trull, Jr., age 77, passed away on January 16, 2024, at Community Hospice (Jane and Bill Warner Center for
Caring) in Fernandina Beach, FL with all four of his children at his side.
"Lester" was born on November 25, 1946, in the small town of Oak Park, GA to Joel Lester Trull, Sr. & Ruby Dean Cox.
He lived most of his life in the Oceanway area of north Jacksonville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and the love of life & wife of 60 years, Carolyn Sue Trull. He never got
over the loss of his "Princess". Cancer may have taken his life, but those who knew him, know he died of a broken
He is survived by his 4 children who adored him, James (Becky) Trull, Joel A.(Rosie) Trull, Melinda Oglesby & Lisa (Rick)
Whiƫtington, 5 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren who were the light of his life.
Lester was fiercely devoted to his family. They were at the center of everything he did. He was the sole caretaker of
his wife until she passed away holding his hand a short 11 months ago. He was an independent carpet layer for most of
his life until he suffered a back injury and had to retire. He loved his Florida Gator football team cheered them on
each Saturday and was always dressed in their gear. He was famous among the Trull family for his potato salad & BBQ
bread. One of his joys was having coffee in the morning with his buddies at Terry's Restaurant in Oceanway.
The family wants to acknowledge and thank his hospice nurses (Amanda & Virginia) who took such good care of him
in his final days.
At his wishes, his body has been cremated. A celebration of his life, with his ashes present, will held on Saturday,
January 27, 2024, at Cedar Bay Funeral Home at 405 New Berlin Rd, Jacksonville, FL at 11:00 am. The celebration will
be officiated by Pastor Micah Strickland of First Baptist of Oceanway. The family will receive friends & family at 10:00
am. The family asks that everyone attending wear jeans and a Florida Gator shirt in his honor.
