John Allen Brundage, Sr., 81, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on November 10, 2020.He was born October 31, 1939 in Neptune, New Jersey. He served in the US Navy, then as a police officer for 30 years with the Wall Township Police Department in Wall, NJ, rising to the rank of Lieutenant. He was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church. He was a lover of the outdoors, a hunter in his younger years, an avid fisherman and a lifelong camper turned RV’er after moving to FL following his first retirement. He continued to work to make his community safer, training police officers for IPTM, as an advocate for seat belt and child auto safety for the State of Florida and as a volunteer ombudsman, protecting the elderly in nursing homes in his community. He was recognized many times in his professional life and was proud of his accomplishments, but he was proudest of his favorite titles; Husband, Dad and Pop Pop.
He was preceded in death by his parents John D. Brundage and Josephine Parker Brundage.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Joanne Grzesik Brundage; son, John A. Brundage, Jr. and his wife Kathleen; daughter, Christine A. Brundage, “daughter” Lisa Sochulak and his cherished granddaughter Victoria Brundage. Mr. Brundage is also survived by his “brother” Frank Grzesik and his wife Nancy, his nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, extended family and many friends.
Graveside Services will be held Monday, November 30, 2020 at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 11:00 AM. The family will meet for procession at 10 AM at Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville.
