It is with great sadness that the family of John Daniel Merritt Sr. announces his passing on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, peacefully at home.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at 9:30 am at the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road in Jacksonville with Pastor Bill Dillhyon officiating. The family will receive friends starting at 9 am at the funeral home, Interment will be at 11:30 am in the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
He is survived by his two daughters Donna Day and her husband Garry; and Vickie Frasier; Six grandchildren, Bruce Day; Hannah Chabot and her husband Samuel; Jennifer Wise-Ferry and her husband John; Jessica Driskell and her husband Brandon; Daniel Sandiford and his wife Tabitha; and David Sandiford; Seven great-grandchildren, Isaac Day; Sarah Day; Dominik Chabot; Leilani Chabot; Caylee Wise; Jace Driskell; and Elijah Driskell; Also many more cousins, nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews and cherished friends. We want to give a special thank you to his nieces Deborah Jenrette; Karen Beckelheimer; and Leila Beckelheimer; and great-niece Heather Miller and her husband Eryck.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years Mary Lou Merritt and their son John D. Merritt Jr. of Jacksonville, FL.; Parents, Tommie and Audrey Merritt of Jacksonville, FL.; Sister, Mary Jo Beckelheimer of Jacksonville, FL.; And nephew David Beckelheimer of Jacksonville, FL.
