Kathy Jo Adams passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025, while under Hospice Care in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born in Kannapolis, NC, to the late C. L.. “Pete” & Katherine Brown Lippard, the youngest of three sisters. Her family moved to Jacksonville, Florida, in 1949 when she was a small child. She married Thomas “Bud” Adams and resided in Oceanway, where she worked at Soud’s Grocery for many years and was a member of the Eastern Stars in the Oceanway Lodge. She attended First Coast Christian Center until poor health prevented her from attending. She had a love for flowers and hummingbirds. Her favorite thing to do was to write letters to keep in touch with family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, C. L.. “Pete” & Katherine Brown Lippard, daughter Sherry Adams, husband Thomas “Bud” Adams, nephew Scott Thornley, and sisters Pat Thornley and Joyce McKendree. She is survived by her nephew Mike (Lisa) Thornley, niece Teri (Phil) Davis, 3 great nieces, and 2 great nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 202,5, at Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, FL, 32218, with Pastor Perry Fruscella officiating. Viewing will begin at 10:00 AM with the service at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Hughes Cemetery in Yulee, Florida.
