Linwood Kenneth Bond, Sr., 93, passed away October 26, 2020 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born February 19, 1927 in Albemarle County, Virginia to the late Edward and Estelle Bond. He was a Chartered Member of Wingate Road Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II. He loved gardening, fishing, and anything outside but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Known to everyone as the “Candyman”.
Linwood is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Elizabeth (Pugh) Bond; 3 brothers; 2 sisters and his grandson, Kendall Bond. Survivors include his son, Linwood K Bond, Jr. (Judy); daughters, Patricia Wade (Jim) and Mary Kay Wasdin; 8 grandchildren, Chris Bond (Reese), Alicia Dunn (Chuck), Jeremy Barry, Elizabeth Cummings (“AJ”), Elizabeth Stevens (David), Kristen Barry, (Jason), Justin Wasdin, and Daniel Wade. 35 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren and a host of other friends and family. He will be dearly missed.
Funeral Services will be held at Cedar Bay Chapel Friday, October 30, 2020 at 11:30 a.m., with Robert Ball officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 1:30 PM. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road Jacksonville, FL, 32218.
