Mamie Lindsey Obituary

Mamie Marteal Cox Lindsey, age 91, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2023. Daughter of the late Homer and Maude Cox, she was born on April 21, 1931, in Irwin County, GA. Marteal married her first husband, Archie M. Lindsey, Jr., in 1952. They moved to Jacksonville in 1960, where they raised their children and lived together until Archie died in 1989. Marteal’s family grew even bigger when she married William Brown in 2012. Together they were proud members of Victory Celebration Church.  

Survivors include her husband, William; son, Michael (Janice) Lindsey; daughters, Sharon Lindsey, and Wanda Powell; 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, and a host of other family and friends. 

Visitation will be held at Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, FL on Friday, January 13, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor James Matthews officiating. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery. A reception will be held following the service at Victory Celebration Church, 3202 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, Florida
