Melba Louise Wright

Wright - Mrs. Melba Louise Wright, age 78, went home to be with the Lord on May 30, 2026, after a long-term illness. Melba was the daughter of the late Ward and Jewell Dean. Melba ("Grani") was a native of Jacksonville and a true "Northsider.” She lived all her life on Jacksonville's Northside except for a brief period when she, her husband Jack, and son Paul lived in Virginia Beach, VA when Jack was stationed there. She grew up in Panama Park and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School. Melba was employed at Bodner's Bakery as a decorator and later at Conrad Hawkins Chevrolet in accounting and inventory. A devoted wife and mother, her pride and joy was her son Paul, along with his family, which she loved caring for and spending time with. She loved family, entertaining, and the limelight. Anyone who knew Melba will tell you that at heart she was a true social butterfly. She always had a very upbeat and positive attitude which she shared with everyone she met bringing smiles, joy and laughter to all. Melba loved the Lord, a Christian, and was a member of the North Jacksonville Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her, beloved husband, Jack Wright; son, Paul Douglas Wright; grandson, Jake Douglas Wright; and brother, Wendal Dean.

Melba is survived by her sister, Oralee Landon; 4 grandchildren, Megahn Wright, Madison Wright (Jared Rawls), Gage Wright, and Zackery Wright; great-grandchildren, Noah Tyson, Nathan Tyson, Neil Tyson, Makaela Tyson, and Musyc Wright; daughters-in-law, Michelle Magnuson and Marilyn Wright; nephew, Ronnie Landon (Elaine); and niece, Betty Carter (Grady).

A Celebration of Melba’s Life will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Cedar Bay Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you would consider making a donation to the charity of your choice in honor of Melba Louise Wright.
