Melvin Haire

 Melvin Haire, 91, passed away on Tuesday March 9, 2021. He was born in Colquitt, Georgia in 1929 to the late John and Ruth (Lawrence) Haire and has lived in Jacksonville most of his life.  Mr. Haire was a veteran and served in the US Air Force and United States Army. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, and was a Shriner and Mason and a member of Lodge # 408 F&AM. Melvin enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be dearly miss by all.

He is preceded in death by his brothers Huey Haire and Edgar Haire. Survivors include his wife Dorothy Haire; son, Tim Haire (Stephanie); brother, Ronald Haire; sisters, Lucy Chesser, and Janie Ponce; grandchildren, Cole Haire, and Celia Haire; and a host of other relatives and friends.

 Funeral services will be held on Friday March 19, 2021 at the Jacksonville National Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening at Cedar Bay Funeral Home starting at 5pm until 7pm.
